passenger side memoir

If we open a dictionary and look at the word "open" - the action of unlocking, the motion of unfolding, the moment of uncovering - the definitions are quite open for interpretations.

In my work Open, I tried to open multiple spaces that are usually enclosed, with the markings left in this progress, in the drawing, of the drawing. Solid on its own, Open was the first creation in the series Passenger Side Memoir, yet became innerly coherent with the other works of the series.

Wildlife Xing portrayed two different poem lines sectioned from Road Trip Digest Vol.2 in the same series of Passenger Side Memoir, in a scene where exotic wildlife presented in a nearly impossible location, bordered in a side-view mirror frame.

When we look into a mirror, we are in the very middle of looking back and looking forward, we at the moment are becoming a fence in between, a fence that separates the past and future, a fence that opens both ways.

Road Trip Digest Vol.2 was a graphic poem created from the impressions on signage seen on freeways and the surroundings.

The imperative wordings on such signs transcended their literal meaning in the progress of montage and collage, thus the context could be read as fiction, non-fiction, documentary, journal, romance, suspense, etc.

This poem sets the backdrop for the other works in the series, yet opened to the audience for final interpretation.
